someone on the google help forum told me how to fix it. it was related to the privacy setting as i suspected.
normal service shall resume shortly.

Excellent! I bet that was stressful. Don't touch that thing again!
it was stressful! i think there must be a way to make a back up in case something worse happens, like you do delete everything. i think i need to research that next because the thought of having a year's worth of work wiped out was not nice.
