silver & gold

Thanks to everyone who commented yesterday, and emails and things. Very nice of you all.

This weekend is a long weekend, and I'm very ready for it. Got lots to do. Its all spring-y in these parts, so I'm looking forward to some spring cleaning. Speaking of which, don't look to closely at the photos coz I haven't dusted in ages. Luckily its all out of focus.

I've mentioned before how great I think this building is going to look, and how much I love it, so I won't go on again (its the new state theatre at the corner of Roe and William streets). Since I took this photo about a week ago, they have been painting the giant silver metal bit white. There's gold-y bits too, on the Roe St side, but I haven't been able to get them to look as great in a photo as they do in real life. Can't wait for it to be finished, and for all those little shops near it to be filled and re-opened.

taken in empire homewares, beaufort street. their website is taking longer to find than i have patience for, so i won't be crediting them with a link. it could be this website here, but its too annoying to get any information out of for me to be sure. anyway... despite this web-related annoyance i really love this shop. its some kind of old warehouse, the light is great. i'm not sure i can afford anything in there but its certainly nice to look at, and if i was a millionaire i would buy the building and move in. they could leave some of the furniture when that happens, i wouldn't mind. they could leave this mirror for sure.

some more from northbridge the other day, both on william street. the former national bank at no.214 (i posted about it before here... i didn't know what it was then and still don't, but some sensible looking youths were undertaking some kind of arts venture that involved drinking punch from plastic cups when i walked past, so i think its some kind of gallery). the other photo is the underside of an awning of a group of buildings that are currently being rennovated down near the new state theatre. there was a big construction fence around them but i peeked through, and i think its going to be a really interesting development, a good mix of old and new.

building on william street, opposite the universal bar. not really sure what it is. if you are wondering about the silver streak across the door... it happened when my flash went off automatically because of the low light. i think it looks kinda freaky! i like it.

these little trees are taking ages to grow, but i have noticed that with all the rain we had over winter they have put on a lot of new growth, so hopefully something will happen soon...
