In the next few days I will put up some lovely photos I took of my friend Susannah, and her horse Shadow. I took them the weekend before last, and there are so many I am still sorting through them all, trying to choose the ones I like. In the mean time, here is a photo of Shadow eating the fence where he lives. It was not his most flattering pose of the day, but every time I see this photo I smile. I hope it makes you smile too, and remember: it is nearly the weekend!

A few more from Hot Rods to Hell, from Deville's on the weekend, including customised child-sized ride, and a hula/skull vignette on a combi dashboard!

Scenes from the foyer of Deville's. When I was little I had a felt-y kind of kangaroo, with red sparkly eyes like the kid in the top photo. I was sure they were rubies. And I told everyone it was very precious because it was made with real rubies. On reflection, a kangaroo with red sparkling eyes sounds like merchandise from a horror film. I wonder where the hell it came from, and why I had it...

Scenes from Hot Rods to Hell, Deville's Pad yesterday. So shiny.... so colourful. Awesome. Thank you for posing with your tattoos, ladies. I've been planning my own tattoo for a while, and the owl was apparently done by Holdfast in Mt Lawley... I love the colours. I have all the ideas and colours for my own, but no actual design yet. Its all kind of in my head, but need someone else to put it on paper. Or skin I suppose.

Today I went to the William Street festival. Visited all my William Street friends, and ran into some other people which was lovely. And came across these insane lanterns. I. Want. One. Don't know if they were even for sale, as they didn't have prices or anything, and of course I have nowhere to put one... but I still want one. Hint. Its my birthday soon. Well, in 3 months.

All from the Woolstores. What a great building, and a shame its derelict and vacant. Well its not a shame in the sense it's covered in art and is a place to skate, but you know, it could have been a great, well... building. With a function. Where people could go inside and... do things. Instead its just crumbling, and probably destined to be demolished or be converted into some poxy apartments. Poxy apartments with interpretive references to woolstores.

p.s. a few different pics from the Woolstores are on flickr here.

I really like these signs. They remind me of Rob Ryan's papercuts. I love Rob Ryan. He is a genius.

Random blue and white finds from Freo last weekend. Behind the new museum there is a whole little village of port buildings that is really cute (see pics 2 & 3). It's nice to see them still being used for something, and being open to the public at the same time (the area that is, you can't get in the actual buildings). Its quite different to somewhere like Midland Railway Workshops which has the most fantastic collection of old and interesting buildings, but the area is not open to the public so no-one really gets to enjoy them, or other interesting sites that have just been left vacant to fall into disrepair.

Wandered into the markets there (B shed?) - wow! scary!! Really scary. Such a cornucopia of useless, ugly, cheap-arsed crap I have never laid eyes on before. I used to love Subi markets when I was a teenager, because I had no money, and it was a place to buy unusual imported stuff really cheap. Now everything is cheap. You can get imported stuff in any shop, in fact that's all you can get. Just mountains and mountains of... junk. At least I know where to get my next medieval, Egyptian, pixie costume.

1, 3, 4 & 6 Fremantle ports/new museum area; 2 & 7 alley way at the end of Cantonment St (I think); 5 Point St car park; 8 the Woolstores.

Going to Freo always feels like a bit of a holdiay. Its so far away... and its kind of... different. Came home a bit sunburnt and with sand on my feet. It was nice to see the ocean. Its not a heat wave anymore, its actually a great time of year - sunny, bright and fresh.

A good adventure always involves a picnic! To celebrate the great weather, and the extra day to enjoy it (a long weekend) I went with a friend down to Freo last Sunday. Lunch in the park was the starting point.
