red & blue

my xmas colours this year are red and blue. i have a blue xmas tree, and all the presents are wrapped in red. the red tree came from lotus in mt hawthorn, but was plain plywood that i spray painted. the vases and things live there on the mantelpiece already. i'm not really into buying heaps of stuff at xmas, but i do love decorating. i also love wrapping presents! so xmas is fun to me. i like digging out the box of ornaments - none of which i've used this year - and reminiscing.

little red suitcase i got at the op-shop on the weekend. it suits me and my house very much. i don't know why it didn't find me earlier, as we were clearly meant to be together.

purple

kerrie, this post is for you. i've been trying to get a good jacaranda shot while they are in flower, but am not having much luck capturing thier intense purple-ness. i think their impact comes when you see them as part of a regular, suburban landscape, they just stand out so much - i am always surprised by those insane blobs of purple on the horizon. but look at that clear, bright, clean blue sky! the light in summer in perth is very particular. its very, very bright.
